VRFocus - Cyberith posted the Kickstarter campaign for its upcoming virtual reality (VR) compatible omnidirectional treadmill, the Virtualizer, at 17:00 BST yesterday, 24th July 2014. The company is hoping to raise $250,000 USD in order to fund production of the device, which can be used with the Oculus Rift VR head-mounted display (HMD). In just under 18 hours since the campaigns launch, its raised well over half its target.

VRFocus - As promised, Cyberith has today launched its crowd-funding campaign for its upcoming virtual reality (VR) compatible omnidirectional treadmill, the Virtualizer. The company has started a Kickstarter campaign that hopes to raise $250,000 USD by 31st August 2014 in order to help fund production of the device, which will be compatible with the Oculus Rift VR headset. Those interested will be able to use the Kickstarter as a means to pre-order the third prototype version of the device.

VRFocus - Indie developer PulseTense Games is currently focused on a Kickstarter campaign for its upcoming survival horror title, Solarix. The team hopes to raise £10,000 GBP by 8th August 2014 in order to fund continued development of the title. A further stretch goal for £60,000 also promises to add support for the Oculus Rift VR headset should it reach that target. The developer also hopes to bring the title to Xbox One for a £50,000 stretch goal, but what about PlayStation 4?

VRFocus - This week sees the launch of a unique new virtual reality (VR) experience named Obolo. The title can be downloaded for free over on the official Oculus VR Share Beta, and comes with full support for the Oculus Rift VR headset. The PC, Mac and Linux experience was originally developed over 72 hours by Team Eagle as part of the Ludum Dare 29 challenge, with support for the Oculus Rift being added in at a later date.

It's official, Facebook is now the proud owner of VR headset developer Oculus.

The $2 billion acquisition is now complete, bringing to a close the deal that was first proposed back in March. To celebrate the completion of Facebook's purchase, the happy buyer and Oculus released the following joint statement: We're looking forward to an exciting future together, building the next computing platform and reimagining the way people communicate. Are you excited about the future of virtual reality? Do you think VR headsets will prove to be an industry staple? Do you find Sony's Project Morpheus or the Oculus Rift to be the more compelling device?
